Reflections on the Chicago River

I slipped into Chicago for a briefly yesterday. Stayed  less than 24 hours actually. But the sun was shining and I found time to take the Architectural Foundations River Tour. I  loved the reflections in the many historic and modern buildings along the waterway.   Reflections are fascinating to me.  Not sure why but I find something about the distorted images compelling.  Here are some moments in time from my journey.

But you don’t have to go on the River to see interesting reflections.  Everywhere you look in the Windy  City you can see vivid and artistic reflections of the neighboring buildings.   The glorious thing is that as the light and your position changes, so do the reflections.

The architectural boat ride is a wonderful education…everyone should do it once. And I LOVED all the reflections from the buildings…good eye, Susan!

I wonder if reflections are so captivating and compelling in part because they tap into so many other mind and spirit activities.
I am reminded of Carl Jung’s ‘Memories, Dreams and Reflections’ or the myth of Narcissus,’ Through the Looking Glass’ and so it goes…seemingly endless. It would be fun to have a conversation about their appeal and their fabulously interesting distortion of reality especially in a city like Chicago.

I have enjoyed this tour even on a rainy day. But your photos are much better than mine. What a wonderful day to tour!
