Pure Michigan

IMG_5868People from Michigan are very familiar with the slogan, “Pure Michigan.”

Not only is it slathered on billboards and marketing materials, but it is what we Michiganders say to each other when the stars align, the weather is great, sunsets inspirational and we can enjoy the many benefits of living in the “Mitten State.”

I had one of those “Pure Michigan” experiences recently when we enjoyed a few days of sailing on Grand Traverse Bay with long time and special friends.

The weather, the water, blue sky, good wind for sailing and some very calm times for swimming and floating  all made for a perfect “Pure Michigan” getaway.

Hope you enjoy these scenes……and know why we Michiganders love where we live and play.

It is, isn’t it? Well, maybe not in November and March. The rest of the year is terrific.

It WAS a “Pure Michigan” weekend in every way!!! And I’d really encourage any “sailors” to experience chartering in Northern Michigan . . . so many charming ports with easy access to their villages (art galleries and boutique shopping) . . . not to mention great restaurants.

It was lovely! Thanks to you and Jeff for organizing the port and the fabulous dinners. Next time we’ll do a blog about food and I’ll take photos at the places we eat. That might be a really fun theme.

Thanks for sharing! I just blogged about my first experience sailing in Traverse Bay. Once I got over my fears, it was a lot of fun! By the way the chopped salad at Ez Cheesy is one of my favorite lunches!

Thanks, Cathy. I appreciate the tip about Ez Cheese.
How about posting a link to your blog here so people interested in sailing in Grand Traverse Bay can enjoy?

Managing to park a 31 foot sailboat without taking out the dock – sheer terror! Here’s a link to my blog on learning to sail. Looking forward to a more peaceful sail next time – like the beautiful pics you posted here!
