Paris: Art and Decoration around every corner

I love  Paris  because its love affair with art is everywhere. The impulse to express oneself creatively is  integral to the life and culture of this glorious city.  One only needs to wander around with eyes wide open to see  the ever present visual feast.   Stimulating.  Interesting.  Surprising. Sometimes exhausting.

I  captured these images in the  first 48 hours of our current visit to the City of Light. More to come.

The ballet dancer at the top of this post and two scenes to follow were painted on the stalls of a public restroom at the airport.

We spotted this fellow on a wall on Ile Saint Louis, an Island in the center of the Seine.  Guess who couldn’t resist posing with him?

Vehicles are fair game for ornamentation.  Can we call this art?

Walls are a great place to add decoration. Both these images were captured in the Marais, an area of Paris where the history is close to the surface while trendiness rules.

This happy face adds a splash of color to a plaza on the Right Bank.

Where else but Paris would you see decorated drain pipes like this?

Noticed that you discovered some ‘street art’ in several locations. I have another movie that I’ll recommend on your return that our daughter suggested to us. It is related to that topic and interesting. Fraud is even possible in the street art ‘art scene’. Enjoy Paris.
